I am pleased to announce that my first flight out of Sawyer International airport, MI on September 12, 2015 at 10:58AM in Sonex N67BG and kit #1599 was all that I thought it would be.fantastic!  A bucket list cross off. With the help, gratitude, and many hours from my wife, Barb (who also is a pilot) Fred, a pilot and Robbi, our Sonex would have never been completed in less than 3 years. Thanks to Kerry for all his help. Joe for the transitional flight and the entire Sonex team/family.

Just a note to let you know that kit ONX-0147 is now an airplane. Started construction early 2014 and DAR inspection was 9/2/15. Plane has AeroVee 2.1 and is tail dragger with minimal instruments, round airspeed and GRT EIS monitor with altimeter. Flew within hours of the inspection with only a very slight rudder trim needed other than getting mixture set for the hot humid weather we were having. Thanks to Kerry and Joe for all the questions answered during the build and to Elliot, the first flights pilot, who has shown it is really a fine little airplane and will perform up to the level claimed by Sonex, right side up and upside down. --Dale Barkley Paris, Illinois

After several years of construction interruptions AeroVee powered Waiex N838TJ (S/N 013) became airborne for the first time on Aug. 26, 2015. My appreciation goes to the Tech Support group for their tireless efforts in making this happen. The adventure begins… TJ Johnson

First flight ONEX 090 ! After 3 years and 3 months it all paid off. First flight and all after that have been a blast. Trimmed at cruise it flies hands off. I want to thank everyone at Sonex for their help when I needed it. Thanks Kerry for being so patient with me. Also, had it not been for my friends and flying buddies "Dr. Dave" T. Moore And very close friend and Sonex / builder Rick Wantz "nwawingman" I still would be months away. Great kit, great company even greater Sonex flying community. From here on it's on me to hone my skills. I love this plane! Frank B. Klimek ONEX 090 N1970T

Sonex 0432 took to the air for the 1st time Friday evening, July 31st, 2015. It flew beautifully without the slightest rigging or trim issue. I am looking forward to completing Phase I testing and applying final finish to the exterior of the aircraft. Although I purchased plans back in 2003 and made the wing ribs and machined angle parts back then, I really only got serious about finishing it less than three years ago. Check my Facebook page for a video of my 1st takeoff and landing, it more or less shows how good the Sonex transition training was (Thanks Joe Norris & Tom Helm). It has truly been a pleasure dealing with the entire Sonex team. I also need to thank my EAA Hall of Fame Technical Advisor and DAR, Lowell Ferrand, project manager/builder assistant, Dave Slosson, all of the professionals at FWA who went out of their way to accommodate the first flight, and my wife and family without whose support, completion of the project would have been impossible.

All went according to plan Test pilot Col Crittenden took her for a 20 minute initial test flight. Plane flew straight and level hands off. Followed by a further 5 flights with me at the controls not so straight or level All engine temps, pressures. stayed good, & she's  ready for the next level. I need a bit more dual time before cutting loose. Happy day ! :-)

I'm writing to report the first flight of Onex #0140 yesterday, Memorial Day 2015. Thanks for a quality kit and nice flying design. I chose the conventional gear version and built the AeroVee 2.1 with 7 to 1 compression. Can't decide if I like my rather gaudy paint scheme or am embarrassed of it, but do know checkerboards are lots of work! There's lots to love about my previous two projects (finished Glasair more than 20 years ago), but for now at least, the Onex is my favorite. At age 76 I wouldn't expect to be your oldest builder, but probably well over the average age!

On May 21, 2015 my Xenos #38 received it's airworthy inspection. The Xenos has been both a delight to fly and flight test. I have been pleasantly surprised in that it continues to exceed my expectations. We have had excellent soaring conditions and have recorded a 1,000 ft/min thermal while at idle power. The Xenos is proving to be a very low priced motorglider with reasonable soaring capabilities. My only regret is the building process is over.
