Sonex 1517 took to the air on Saturday, October 10th, 2015 at the Aurora IL airport after 4 1/2 years of building. The Turbo AeroVee ran smooth and strong and the flight was uneventful. To all the other builders out there, keep going! This is a moment worth all the effort you put into it. Transition training made me feel ready for the flight and allowed me to relax and enjoy the moment. What a great airplane to fly! A huge thank you to my wife Brenda and son Joshua for helping me and supporting me, Michael Farley for his friendship and assistance, and the staff at Sonex Aircraft, LLC.

I conducted the first flight on Onex O148 yesterday Sept. 30 at KSTE, Stevens Point Wi. The flight could not have gone better. Everything worked perfectly and no adjustments were needed after the flight. I think what made this possible was a starting with a good kit, attention to details, and Sonex transition training. I would like to thank everyone who helped in anyway during the 22 month building process. Let the flying process begin! Mike Zurawski Onex 0148

Hi all at Sonex. Just to let you know that yesterday at 12 noon on the 20th September(UK time) Sonex kit No 1600 flew for the first time in the capable hands of Sonex agent and UK Test pilot Mike Moulai. Lee wilkinson and myself, Started building in February 2013. She is a conventional gear(tail wheel) Jabiru 3300 powered rocket ship and quite a change from the Streak Shadow I have owned for the last 7 years! She needs another 5 hours test flying before We can get our hands on her but it was quite a day to see all our hard work come to fruition as she left the ground. I did manage to get a trip as observer and she handles like a dream! There were a couple of anomalies on the E.M.S with temp fluctuations, but just poor connections I think to blame. You now have two more happy Sonex flyers to add to the fold.

With the help, gratitude, and many hours from my wife, Barb (who also is a pilot) Fred, a pilot and Robbi, our Sonex would have never been completed in less than 3 years. Thanks to Kerry for all his help. Joe for the transitional flight and the entire Sonex team/family.

Just a note to let you know that kit ONX-0147 is now an airplane. Started construction early 2014 and DAR inspection was 9/2/15. Plane has AeroVee 2.1 and is tail dragger with minimal instruments, round airspeed and GRT EIS monitor with altimeter. Flew within hours of the inspection with only a very slight rudder trim needed other than getting mixture set for the hot humid weather we were having. Thanks to Kerry and Joe for all the questions answered during the build and to Elliot, the first flights pilot, who has shown it is really a fine little airplane and will perform up to the level claimed by Sonex, right side up and upside down. --Dale Barkley Paris, Illinois
