I am pleased to announce that Sonex kit TD with a Jab3300, #1325 has flown successfully on March 19, 2015 after 3.5 years in build time which started in New Jersey and finished in Florida. Your Sonex team has been a joy to work with during the 3.5 years it took me. Your Sonex team was always there to help(tech support), and fill my orders with a friendly email. My flight was from Winter Haven airport in Florida, with my ground team and Jeanne my wife watching. I will be working on flying the 40 test hours off and breaking in my new Jab3300 engine. After the test hours are flown off paint will be next with the wings, wheel pants and tail tips painted Royal Blue, the nose will be Silver, and fuselage polished. Please find attached a picture of my Sonex. regards, Bob Ohlson

Made first flight of standard gear ONEX (ONX0038) on March 18th. The aircraft flies straight and level hands off. It took me a few attempts at tuning the Aero injector, but it can be done. Tech support (Kerry and Joe) resolved the few issues I had. My special thanks to fellow ONEX builder Todd Reifers for pictures and advice, my father-in-law Bill Nostadt and wife Nancy for their support and encouragement. Building the ONEX was a great experience.

I flew Sonex N1534S for the first flight today March 8, 2015, at KWJF Lancaster California. The plane flew great and climbed very well. I spent an hour getting familiar with the handling in all phases of flight. Many thanks to my wife for understanding my Sonex addiction, All the folks at Sonex and to Gary Aldrich my EAA flight advisor, Steve Irving my EAA Tech Counselor, and the very helpful controllers in the Fox Airfield tower. Sonex 1534 is a taildragger equipped with an Aerovee, dual stick, Sandia Transponder, MGL EFIS Extreme w/ full AHRS, MGL V6 radio, panel mounted Garmin 295 GPS. Now I know what the Sonex grin is all about.

Just had my first flight in my Sonex serial #0749 on March 6th at KFLY. My N# is N370MN. I purchased the kit from the estate of Russ Woodyard in Tennessee. My mentor's John Gillis (116YX), and Jeff Shultz (604CM) said it was a great build, and just had to finish up the project. Big thanks to my mentor's and Steve Rothert for all their help! Can't wait to bring it to KOSH ( with paint) of course.

Hi this is Gary Anders. I wanted to let you know that had my first flight of my Onex on 2/21/15. N490CG. It has a Revmaster R2300 engine. I am so happy with the performance of this plane. I have four hours on it already and couldn't be happier. Thank you Sonex staff for all your help. I'm not sure what I like more, building or flying the Onex. It was a great experience all around.

I test flew Onex 0016 on December 22 ----This is my fourth Sonex aircraft build ( Two Sonex's and two Onex's ) My first Sonex had a Jabiru 3300 engine and was a blast to fly So I decided to put a Jabiru 3300 in Onex 0016 The extra work installing the engine was well worth it. The performance is just awesome ( High performance Air Gasum )

It finally happened. My Sonex got its airworthiness certificate mid November and I've been waiting for the right conditions, mostly very little crosswind. It finally happened today and my Aerovee powered Tri-gear Sonex made her first flight. My project started out as a plans built airplane after I attended the October 2001 Workshop and came home with a set of plans. I started building in 2002 and completed the wings, tail and all control surfaced as plans built but I bought a lot of parts when I started building the fuselage. What a wonderful airplane the Sonex team has designed. Thanks to everyone at Sonex for putting up with me eating free pizza every year at their open house. Thanks Kerry for answering all my questions. I have to thank my wonderful first wife Glennda for putting up with my airplane habit. The first flight went really well for a cold day in December in Wisconsin. Luckily the snow on the runway had been partially pounded down by someone with skis late last week. I flew for about 40 minutes and tried not to baby the Aerovee. Temps and oil pressure stayed in the green and performance was really good. I'd like to thank my crew of three, Rich Blackmon, Bill Nicholson and Jerry Carncross. I had a ball flying her. Now the fun begins.
