Sonex 1288 (N779SX) flew very comfortably and predictable. It was an enjoyable build and a serious flying machine that I plan to enjoy for many years to come. Many thanks to the whole Sonex family for the practical design and support. Transition training with Joe was just what I needed to begin the test flights myself. This has truly been an educational and recreational journey. Sonex Experimental 779SX proudly wears the Sonex “Reality Check”. Thank you so much. See you at Airventure

After a relatively long gestation of 8 years 2 months and 28 days, (but who's counting?) Sonex #813 finally took flight at 3:30 pm into a blustery but sunny afternoon at Callington Airstrip, South Australia on October 4, 2014. We were airborne for 30 minutes with 3 circuits before a full stop and taxi back to the hangar. Everything went well with engine and airframe. Thanks to Sonex for a great design and for the support over the years building. Also thanks to the great support from the Downunder SonexAus crew, Lynn Jarvis, Peter Anson, Doug McLean, Stuart Trist, Greg Jones and others whom I may have forgotten. It may have taken a long time and at times I never thought I'd get there, but with persistance and the support of a great Community of Sonex people, I did! Woohoo!

My first flight was on September 23, 2014.  My Sonex has dual sticks, a tailwheel, and the Aerovee engine.  I'm extremely pleased with the performance and the economy and am enjoying the adventures I've had in the 22 hours I've flown so far. The transition training was great and helped me feel comfortable with the controls, sight picture, and take-off and landing from first flight on. Chris Madsen

Waiex #149 had its first flight on Sunday 22nd September at YLTV. Construction which took just over four years has been a great experience and very character building. I would like to thank everybody who helped along the way in particular Janet, my patient wife, Chris Bishoff (Sonex 1147) a very generous man and Sonex. My little southern star (Epsilon Crucis) flew straight and true. You can only know how that feels if you have been there, right?

Sonex 1072, an Aerovee powered tricycle gear flew for the first time today. The plane flew fantastic. It handled just like the factory prototype I flew during the Sonex Transition Flight Training. The plane flew out of Fulton County Airport in Atlanta. My EAA Flight Advisor flew chase in an RV4. My wife, Courtney provided ground support. After the first flight I adjusted the timing and took her up for a longer flight. Thank you Sonex for a fabulous aircraft design, kit package and top notch factory support.

I completed my Sonex project and flew it for the first time on July 23, 2014 after almost four years of building time. It has a Jabiru 3300 engine driving a Sensenich propeller. It has wonderful handling characterists and the performance I expected. The panel is just fitted with  a Stratomaster electronic flight instrument system and portables : Aera 500, Fligthcom intercom and Icom radio. Thanks to all the people at Sonex and many thanks to my wife and kids for their patience and support.

Jabiru 3300 powered Tri-Gear WAIEX S/N 0163 Flew for a 20 minute initial flight on July 13, 2014 at Dutchess County Airport (POU) in NY. Very exciting. T-Flight Training with Joe Norris was extremely valuable - I highly recommend it. Now I'm looking forward to lots of fun with those aerobatic ailerons. After about three years of e-mails and phone calls, Kerry can now take a break. Seriously, the tech support was great. Thanks a lot. Don King

Hi…. After just over two years, Onex N1486 had it’s first flight yesterday (and more importantly its’ first landing!)…. all nominal…. a big thank you to Lee Thomas, Glenn Habrial and especially Brian Ray for all their help, and thanks for Jeremy, Kerry and Joe at Tech Support…. I’m looking forward to her next flights…the whole experience of building her and her engine was both all-consuming and educational, but well worth it… Woody Saland
